My friends, let's let God, not Webster's dictionary, or any uninspired lexicon or lexicographer or anybody define terms in the Bible.  Let's let God tell us what they mean. Let's let God use ... tell us the meaning ... that He attaches to words and use.

You take the word 'god'. Some of the people are fond of going to the Greek or in places Greek ... for instance the word translated in our English Bibles, most of them, translated 'everlasting' and 'forever and ever'. It doesn't mean that at all. Go to the Greek and find out the word rendered 'everlasting' in our Bible simply means 'age lasting'. That will give a tantalizing about what the heathen Greeks thought about these words. What did the, heathen Greek think that word 't-h-e-o-s' meant? God! To the pagan, heathen Greeks, what did 'god' mean? Maybe he was a marble monument out yonder, or anyone of a number of gods they had. One of the passages I like to use most surely along this line is 2 Corinthians 4:4 and 5.

If our gospel be hid, it's hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

There you have god, God. In the Greek, 'theos', 'theos'. The first 'theos' is the devil, the second theos is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Go to your Greek dictionaries, it won't help you a cent. Won't help you read those words in 2 Corinthians 4. The first 'theos' is the god of this world, the devil, and the second 'theos' is the God of gods.

My friend, we've got to come to the Word of God in order to get the mind of God. One of the things that I like to believe and say as any one thing concerning our most holy faith is that Christianity is the one and only revealed religion. Buddhism is not revealed, you can study that and catch it like you can catch a disease.  Shintoism and Confucianism and Mohammedanism are not revealed religions. You can study them ... you've got to get something out of them. You won't get much then but deception and all, but they're moral principles and all. But Christianity is revealed. There's not one single truth in our ... in the content of our holy faith that any natural unregenerate mind can see and understand. We're told in 1 Corinthians 2 that the things of the Spirit of God are foolishness to the natural mind.
