DAD STEVENS HAS PASSED ON
A few months before, he stated that he was
looking forward to a rest from life's trials and labors with the fulfillment of
his three score and ten. We joyously believe that he is now happily with the
Lord, his Saviour.
He was a man who believed he was called early in life
to preach and teach God's Word. He labored diligently through the years, never
complaining about income, or ill health. God's grace was always found
sufficient. His last five years on earth were accented with bodily pain and
discomfort, yet, to the end, he nobly fed the sheep.
He counted unity among his brethren more important
than any issue of Bible doctrine. Bible studies he placed in numerous newspapers
through the years, besides writing and printing over sixty tracts and Bible
studies.
The ground he has faithfully tilled through the years
and the labor of love that was shown to us, has made it easier for us now to
carry on the "good fight". An elder has departed from our midst. [1 Tim.
3:1-5]
We rejoice in the hope that he so often mentioned
-that blessed hope", that "whether we wake or sleep", we shall be reunited with
our loved ones who loved the One Who loves us more than we could ever deserve -
Christ Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.
